Strong First-Order Phase Transitions and the Physics of Remnants

Date
August 5, 2022 (Fri) 14:55〜16:25
Speaker
Kiyoharu Kawana (Seoul National University, South Korea)

First-order phase transitions in the early universe have recently been actively studied from various phenomenological angles, including gravitational waves, primordial black holes, and baryogenesis. When the transition is sufficiently strong, particles can remain trapped in the false vacuum and survive as compact remnants. Applications to new dark-matter candidates and primordial black-hole formation are under active investigation.
