The Matter-Antimatter Asymmetry of the Universe and Electroweak Baryogenesis

Date
July 2, 2026 (Thu) 16:35〜18:05
Room
Bldg. 6, Room 6112
Speaker
Yushi Mura (Theory Center, High Energy Accelerator Research Organization (KEK))

In this talk, I discuss electroweak baryogenesis, a scenario that accounts for the matter (baryon) asymmetry of our universe. Although electroweak baryogenesis is a compelling, testable scenario, a systematic understanding of how to evaluate the generated baryon number from quantum field theory has not yet been fully established. In the first half of the talk, I give an introduction to and a basic account of electroweak baryogenesis. In the second half, I explain how to derive, from quantum field theory, the Boltzmann equations needed for the baryon-number calculation, while incorporating recent developments.
