Modern Cosmology and eV Dark Matter
In the first half of this talk, I will give an overview of modern cosmology from a particle physicist's point of view, that is, our current understanding of how the universe came to be. In particular, I will present the observational evidence for dark matter, an unknown form of matter, and theoretical studies of its identity, and explain the motivation for considering dark matter in the eV mass range. In the second half, I will discuss a proposed mechanism that may explain why the matter-antimatter asymmetry and the dark matter abundance are so close, as well as the concept of a new infrared spectrometer for searching for eV dark matter.
