Magnetic fields are a fundamental element of our universe, and understanding them is essential for revealing the history of cosmic structure formation and evolution. Radio observations provide one of the few viable methods for investigating cosmic magnetic fields, and expectations are high for magnetic-field research with next-generation radio telescopes such as the Square Kilometre Array (SKA), currently under construction. This talk explains cosmic magnetic-field observations and introduces the latest research.
